A Q&A on A/W Fashion Week 2016 with Famed Fashion Blogger Carrie Colbert

These days, “Fashion Week” is more like Fashion Month, what do you look most forward to in each city?

I focus on emerging luxury designers. That is, I like to find those smaller or up and coming designers who are producing unique designs with high-end designer quality.  So, while their names might be lesser known than some of the iconic design houses like Ralph Lauren or Valentino, they create distinctive designs with the same high quality craftsmanship and impeccable attention to details.

In that vein, during New York Fashion week I was really impressed by the presentations of Sachin & Babi and Novis.

In London, I was very excited to see what Mary Katrantzou, Peter Pilotto, and Simone Rocha had up their sleeves. British fashion is having a major moment, and I’m completely smitten with the direction it is taking.

For Milan, I was looking forward to seeing what Massimo Giorgetti did at both MSGM and Emilio Pucci and what Marco de Vincenzo did with his label. Both of these designers are leading the pack of young Italian designers to keep an eye on.

In addition, when it comes to Italian fashion, I can’t help but think of the high quality Italian leather shoes and handbags. So,  I definitely visited my friends at Aquazzura, Giuseppe Zanotti, and Elena Ghisellini.

For Paris Fashion week, my highlights included Demna Gvasalia’s highly anticipated debut at Balenciaga, Chloé’s motocross-inspired leathers and clothes for real women by Stella McCartney

How does your personal style adapt to Miami?

My style becomes more relaxed when I go to southern Florida. I already wear a lot of color and print, so that part of Miami style is already represented in my wardrobe. But I find myself opting for more relaxed silhouettes during the day. Flowy frocks and comfortable dresses like these are perfect for pool lounging and beach walking.
