If you’ve ever enjoyed classic Italian dishes in the upscale atmosphere at Il Mulino New York, you can thank Chef Michele Mazza for an incredible meal.
The Torre del Greco-born chef went to culinary school near his hometown in Southern Italy before moving to the US and has since spent over a decade as the corporate executive chef of Il Mulino New York, a beloved Italian restaurant with more than a dozen locations across the country.
Since he oversees all of the group’s restaurants, Chef Mazza regularly travels all across the country from Las Vegas to Long Island, New York. But he says the Il Mulino location in Miami at Acqualina Resort and Residences on the Beach is his favorite. “I love it because sometimes I can cook outside on the grill and guests can have dinner and watch the beautiful sea,” says Chef Mazza. “You can’t beat this view.”
Chef Mazza says the most popular dishes in Miami are centered around the region’s fresh seafood. Ingredients like Branzino and Dover Sole are fresh and high quality, so Chef Mazza enjoys preparing the fish simply with lemon, herbs, and just a bit of seasoning to let the seafood really shine.
Chef Mazza also enjoys highlighting local produce for dishes like the Caprese, where juicy Florida tomatoes are paired with rich Buffalo mozzarella cheese and basil.
His dedication to sharing classic Italian fare and hospitality can be seen on every plate at Il Mulino, but especially in traditions like Sunday Supper and Sunday Brunch, which are both designed to bring people together around a warm table for an exceptional meal.
Book a table at Il Mulino and see Chef Michele Mazza’s culinary talents shine.
