When the leaves begin to fall and the seasons change, I know it’s time to update my skincare regime in preparation for the cooler months ahead. For me, the fall has always been reminiscent of pumpkins – which happen to be loaded with antioxidants and vitamin C – therefore, I’ve created a DIY pumpkin-inspired face mask and body scrub to help you protect and restore your skin this season.

 Pumpkin Face Mask:

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon canned organic pumpkin
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • ½ teaspoon milk

Directions:

Mix ingredients together until smooth. After cleaning and exfoliating your face, apply pumpkin mixture and let set for 15-20 minutes, rinse with warm water. Suggestion: apply coconut oil to the face before applying the mask, gently massaging the oil into the skin to stimulate the circulation.

Pumpkin Body Scrub:

Ingredients:

  • ½ pumpkin puree (fresh or canned)
  • ½ cup virgin, cold-pressed coconut oil
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup brown sugar

Directions:

Mix all three ingredients together and apply generously to clean skin, massaging it into the skin for best effects. After 10 minutes, rinse with warm water and pat dry. Inside Info: the virgin, cold pressed coconut oil not only moisturizes your skin, but helps to exfoliate dead cells. It even has anti-bacterial properties. The ground cinnamon is also anti-bacterial and rich with antioxidants (not to mention it smells delicious!)
