Safe and Socially Distanced Activities to Enjoy in Miami

Acqualina Pool

Winter is coming. For most of the country, that means chilly weather, snow, and frozen conditions. It’s natural to start dreaming of a sunny getaway when the temperatures start to drop.

Thankfully, the Sunshine State offers a warm welcome for travelers seeking a respite from freezing temperatures. Given our endless summer-like environment, South Florida’s expansive beaches and countless open-air attractions also provide a getaway that makes staying safe a simple prospect.

Here are some of the events and adventures you can look forward to enjoying during your winter escape to our tropical paradise.

It’s Tee Time

What better way to enjoy a little space than playing a few holes of golf? Miami is home to countless excellent, PGA-quality golf courses, so duffers of all levels will find much to love. We recommend The Club at Emerald Hills, which is less than a mile from Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale Airport. Miami Beach Golf Club is only about a 10 minute drive from Acqualina, and is a local institution. Or, tee up at Normandy Shores, located on a secluded island in Biscayne Bay, at the north end of Miami Beach. Fore!

Bass Museum of Art

With a focus on art that’s both international and contemporary, the Bass Museum offers patrons a glimpse into global cultures and experiences that are as immediate as they are compelling. The museum’s mission is to foster understanding via presenting the visions of artists in the worlds of design, fashion, architecture and other disciplines; artists who are very much still evolving, and reflecting the world around them with unique perspectives. The Bass Museum also maintains an outreach and education program that promotes learning, and cultural growth.

Frost Science Museum

The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is on a mission: sharing the beauty and power of science in order to spark fascination, imagination, and wonder. The museum’s display halls span across a four-building complex including an aquarium, planetarium, and two large wings filled with interactive opportunities to learn. Visitors will marvel at imaginative exhibits on biology, physics, astronomy, tech, and much more. As an added bonus, the museum is located within beautiful  Downtown Miami’s waterfront Museum Park, so be sure to explore the grounds. You never know what you’ll find!

Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens

A lush green wonderland with discoveries around every corner, Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens takes advantage of Florida’s ideal warm and sunny climate to offer visitors an expansive collection of biodiversity. First founded in 1938 by Dr. David Fairchild, the Gardens have evolved into a beautifully-landscaped, 83-acre collection of rare and interesting plant types from all over the world. Explosions of color happen at all times of the year here.
