Acqualina Resort & Spa on the Beach Welcomes New Executive Chef Dewey LoSasso

Sunny Isles Beach, FL (December 17, 2013) – Acqualina Resort & Spa on the Beach, South Florida’s ultra-luxury resort destination, is revolutionizing the South Florida culinary scene and is pleased to announce award-winning Chef Dewey LoSasso as executive chef. A highly creative, detail oriented chef with a strong work ethic and a passion for the culinary arts, Chef LoSasso will oversee and reconceptualize the food and beverage program at the Forbes Travel Guide Five Star and AAA Five Diamond resort.

LoSasso comes to Acqualina Resort & Spa from the legendary Forge Restaurant, where he most recently served as executive chef of the Miami Beach landmark restaurant and was named Miami New Times Best Chef in 2010.

“During my tenure at The Forge we revamped the menu and reinvigorated our loyal clientele,” says LoSasso, who brings more than three decades of experience to the job. “I look forward to this new opportunity at Acqualina Resort & Spa and know that our continued success in the food and beverage department is inevitable.”

Chef LoSasso will oversee all food and beverage operations including banquet and event menus, offerings at Piazzetta Marketplace and Restaurant, Costa Grill, as well as creating delectable lite fare dishes for the prestigious Acqualina Spa by ESPA.

His expertise will undoubtedly fit perfectly at the resort as we continue to redefine the luxury dining experience.” Chef LoSasso will report directly to Tamir Kobrin, Acqualina’s managing director who added, “With Chef LoSasso’s cuisine and our magnificent settings, Acqualina will continue to raise the bar on luxury living.”

Chef LoSasso has been a driving force on the South Florida culinary scene. Prior to joining The Forge in 2008, Chef LoSasso helped to revitalize the now trendy Biscayne Corridor and opened North 110, where he received “excellent” ratings from The Miami Herald and South Florida Sun Sentinel, was named “Best Restaurant North Dade” by the Miami New Times and honored as one of Ocean Drive magazine’s “Great Chefs.” He also served as executive chef at New York’s Hudson Hotel, and served as executive and concept chef for China Grill Management’s Tuscan Steak in Miami, which was a South Beach favorite during his tenure. In his illustrious career, LoSasso has also served as Donatella Versace’s personal chef and food event coordinator, creating magnificent meals for the fashion icon’s famed parties. He brought fine dining to the sports world as the head chef for the Lipton Tennis Tournament (now Sony Ericsson Open). A New Jersey-native born into an Italian family, LoSasso realized his passion for cooking at age 13, and has been leaving his mark of excellence in kitchens ever since.
