The new Grand Deluxe Three-Bedroom Oceanfront Suite at Acqualina Resort in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida.

High above the Atlantic Ocean, the perfect seaside sanctuary awaits in Acqualina Resort’s newly debuted Grand Deluxe Three-Bedroom Oceanfront Suite. Located on the 32nd floor of the resort in Sunny Isles Beach, the 2,375-square-foot suite blends magnificent ocean grandeur with elegant styling to rival South Florida’s most sought-after retreats.

Designed by Stephanie Trump and Deborah Yager Fleming, Acqualina’s ownership team, together with Florida-based design firm SBI, the suite features an entry foyer with chic marble flooring, an expansive living room with distinctive design, full gourmet kitchen, three sumptuous bedrooms, and views of the ocean and Miami’s skyline throughout.

To learn more about the luxurious escape, we stepped inside with Yager Fleming herself.

Deborah Yager Fleming walks us through Acqualina's new Grand Deluxe Oceanfront Suite.Walk us through the design process. What were your inspirations and how did you work together to bring them to life?

It was important to us to continue to offer our hotel guests a suite experience that would keep true to our DNA of traditional and modern elements coming together. What makes this suite unique is our approach to more contemporary lounge seating and the opportunity to bring in our location next to the sea by introducing blues into the color palette. Acqualina is known for our classic and elegant room design, and this suite offers a reflection of elegant, timeless pieces one would want in their own home.

Stephanie Trump and I always keep our customers in mind when we are creating a new design feature. We always think of the use of the spaces and how it is important to create a warmth and a calming environment where guests can mingle or just relax. We hired SBI since they have a background in residential and commercial projects. Acqualina is meant to be designed like you are visiting a home of a friend, so having a design firm that understands our needs is important to us.

What was the rationale behind creating a one-of-a-kind accommodation like this? Was it in response to any specific demand from guests?

Creating relevant and exquisitely designed spaces is at the forefront of what we do with the Acqualina brand, as well as offering something new every year for our customers to try. With the popularity of our family market, we wanted to introduce a suite that our customers would enjoy not only over the holidays but year-round.

It has a quiet elegance that provides a great sense of comfort and calmness. We used several Sunbrella luxury fabrics that are of exceptional quality and durability. The luxurious, contemporary fabrics and soothing color palette came together flawlessly.

From a guest perspective, what sets the Grand Deluxe Oceanfront Suite apart from other ultra-luxury hotel suites available in Miami?

The suite’s expansive living room features modern end tables with a geometric design pattern and a sitting area that has a queen sofa sleeper with quilted back cushions and accented pillows. The suite feels like home versus a hotel.

There is a full gourmet kitchen with designer Arctic white quartz countertops, a Sub-Zero built-in refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, stainless steel sink, and fully stocked private bar. The dining area has a Ralph Lauren Baxter metal shade chandelier, bay window and floor-to-ceiling views of the ocean, two barstools, and a dining table for four people. Touchpad thermostats, Lutron lighting control, and high-speed WiFi connection are available throughout the suite.

What kind of view can guests expect to behold from their upper-floor vantage?

A front-row seat to the Atlantic Ocean. The view from the living room is as if you are on a cruise ship – all ocean. This sweeping sea view is also available from the master bedroom and dining area. The guest bedrooms offer a view of the Miami skyline and Intracoastal Waterway.

If you were to personally book the suite, what occasions would it be suitable for?

The beauty of the suite is that it is a great fit for any occasion.

You mentioned that the suite is designed to evoke a distinct sense of place. How so?

It has a strong sense of coastal living with its dramatic views of the ocean and soothing color palette of blues, whites, and grays. The marble that adorns the suite is a beige reminiscent of sand. All pulled together, it makes an ideal seaside sanctuary.

The new Grand Deluxe Three-Bedroom Oceanfront Suite at Acqualina Resort in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida.Given the curated collection of furniture, décor, and accessories, what are some of your favorite items in the suite and where were they sourced from?

Each area has something special, and all of the pieces are coordinated to evoke a happy feeling. I love the elegant entry foyer with three round mirrored sconces, a linear polished nickel light fixture, and hand-painted wallpaper. If I were to pick an item, it would be between the Thayer Coggin Inc. Suspender Chairs and the Bernhardt Lounge Chairs in the living room. Both make a great statement about modern furniture elements becoming timeless pieces.

How does the Grand Deluxe Oceanfront Suite reflect the Acqualina experience?

Luxurious furniture, fabrics, and textiles are expected by our customers, as well as a heightened level of comfort. Our accommodations are meant to be lived in. We want all of the spaces to be used and represent a place where function and form come together. Acqualina is made up of many wonderful moments and intimate spaces, and our Grand Deluxe Oceanfront Suite offers just that.
